Nobody is called Elise

Elise finds her grandmother’s diary in the attic of her grandparents’ house.

Her grandmother is also called Elise and is afraid of thunder.

This diary is written in a foreign language because her grandmother used to live in another country.

She had to flee this country because war destroyed her homeland. Her flight took her to a lonely railway station just across the border. Lukas, the stationmaster, keeps this station clean and tidy, writes his daily reports, notes times and temperatures.

But since war had broken out across the border, no more trains pulled into his station.

Suddenly Elise is there. She is waiting for a train.

“It will be a long time before a train pulls in here! You can’t stay here, a station isn’t a hotel!”

Elise doesn’t know where to go. No passport, nowhere to stay, no work ‑ she is a NOBODY.

But she stays there for one whole year. When Lukas is under orders to send Elise back across the border, he takes a brave action
